Devon Rex vs. Persian (Garfield Cat): Which is More Expensive?

When comparing the Devon Rex and the Persian cat (often referred to as a "Garfield Cat"), the Devon Rex generally commands a higher price tag, often reaching into the tens of thousands of yuan.

The Devon Rex is still relatively rare in the domestic market, which contributes to its higher price point. A purebred Devon Rex typically costs upwards of 5,000 yuan. Cats with excellent physical traits and lineage can range from 8,000 to 10,000 yuan, and sometimes even exceed 10,000 yuan. This high price is driven by market demand combined with the breed's lower production rates and survival rates.

On the other hand, the price of a purebred Persian cat, also known as the Garfield cat, typically starts at around 3,000 yuan. In some areas, non-purebred Persian cats can even be found for as low as 1,000 yuan. These lower-priced cats, however, may have pedigree deficiencies. Compared to purebred Persian cats, they may have inferior physical health, facial features, breed characteristics, and even lower intelligence.

Therefore, if you're considering either of these breeds, the Devon Rex tends to be the more expensive option, primarily due to its relative scarcity and breeding challenges. Remember that responsible pet ownership also includes budgeting for long-term care, not just the initial purchase price. This price difference between the Devon Rex cat and the Persian cat should factor into your decision when choosing your new feline companion. You might also like:Pet Breeding
