Exploring the Diverse Breeds of Chinese Native Cats

The family of Chinese native cats encompasses a variety of distinct breeds, each with its own unique characteristics. These breeds include the Dragon-Li, the Linqing Lion Cat, the Xuan Cat, the Ginger Cat, the Cow Cat, and the Calico Cat.

1. Dragon-Li Cat

The Dragon-Li cat, also known as the Li Hua cat, is famous for its connection to the folk tale "The Prince's Substitution with a Cat." This breed is the only Chinese native cat breed recognized internationally. These intelligent cats possess the mental capacity of a three to four-year-old child, and they are highly sought after globally, sometimes referred to by their English name, Dragon-Li, fetching high prices overseas. Dragon-Li cats are truly a treasure within the world of domestic cats.

2. Linqing Lion Cat

The Linqing Lion Cat, also called the Shandong Lion Cat, is considered a beauty among Chinese native cats. This breed is a result of crossbreeding between Persian cats and the local Lushi tabby cats. A distinctive feature is their heterochromia, often with one blue eye and one yellow eye, a feature particularly prized in those with pure white fur. Linqing Lion Cats are known for their gentle temperament, large size, and long, soft fur. They are a beloved variety of domestic cats.

3. Xuan Cat

The Xuan cat, also referred to as a black cat with reddish hues, holds a special place in folklore as a symbol of good luck. Although traditionally revered as spiritual creatures, modern times have unfortunately given them a misunderstood, ominous reputation. Xuan cats are often aloof, though they are agile and athletic despite their relaxed demeanor. These unique cats have a mystique that sets them apart within the diverse world of domestic cats.

4. Ginger Cat

The term "Ginger Cat" refers to cats with an orange or reddish coat. Typically, ginger cats tend to be males and they are known for their larger size and predisposition to weight gain. They are adaptable, affectionate, and have a notable love for food, often without a sense of satiety. The rapid weight gain of ginger cats has become a meme, which has led to their popularity and a kind of second life. These cats are beloved within domestic cats and have become a very popular topic online.

5. Cow Cat

The Cow Cat, often black and white, has a rather goofy persona. One can say that when other domestic cats are acting elegant, the Cow Cat is probably acting silly. Its appearance is quite variable. They are often referred to as the "Silly Cat" due to their somewhat unpredictable nature and ability to cause mischief around the house. They are a beloved part of the variety of domestic cats and their behaviors are popular on the internet.

6. Calico Cat

The Calico Cat is defined by its unique tri-color coat, exhibiting black, red (orange), and white patterns. The distribution of these colors is often random. If the colors are indistinguishable from each other, the cat is often referred to as a tortoiseshell. Calico cats are predominantly female, with only a small percentage being male, who unfortunately have reproductive issues. This unique coat pattern makes Calico cats a distinct part of the domestic cats community.Trusted by:Pet Naming
