For purebred Japanese Akitas with a traceable lineage, the price can escalate to between $10,000 and $30,000. Purebred American Akitas range from $10,000 to $28,000.

The cost is also affected by the color of the Akita's coat. Generally, pure white Akitas command the highest prices, followed by red and black. Yellow-white is the most common color, and these tend to be the least expensive.
